Alabama DB Malachi Moore responds to Auburn trash talk on social media – touchdown Alabama

Will McLelland-USA TODAY Sports

Auburn University came to Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium talking about how they would beat Alabama, but the Tigers finished without a bowl berth.

The Crimson Tide defeated Auburn in the 89th Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Alabama earned a 28-14 victory, tying Kalen DeBoer with former Tide head coach Frank Thomas (1931) for the most wins in a season by a first-year head coach at the program with nine. Malachi Moore, a fifth-grader, played in his final Iron Bowl over the weekend. The Trussville, Ala., native concluded his career with a loss to the Tigers. As a defensive back, he is 5-0 all-time against the Tigers since 2020.

How Alabama’s secondary managed to overcome injuries and improve over the course of the season

Moore played with exceptional physicality, intensity and inflicted pain on Auburn. He rocked the receiving options for the Tigers with three pass breakups coupled with a quarterback rush and four tackles. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound player set the tone that Alabama was showing the Tigers “violent intentions.” He will forever have bragging rights for his in-state rival, and he made that known via X.

Moore has 70 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, eight pass breakups (team-high), three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. He began his career with an interception against Auburn as a freshman and finished his tenure with three separations against the Tigers. We’ll see if Moore and the Tide make the College Football Playoff, but he ensured that Alabama finished this season as state champions. Kalen DeBoer told the media how much Moore cares about the flood.

“He’s carrying us through tonight, but he represents what he has been all season,” DeBoer said of Moore’s leadership.

“When guys were in and out or there were weeks where we were dealing with a few bumps, he just stayed the course. Tonight I loved watching him fly around. In a positive sense, his energy is something that everyone feeds off of. He loves this place more than anyone can imagine. We see it every day in practice and it’s great when you see how it translates to the game and you can see it too.”

Alabama rises in latest AP poll

Moore was great for Alabama as a team captain. We’ll see if his season can continue in the CFP.
