Alabama in the final CFP rankings? When the playoff series comes out

Alabama football is preparing to learn its postseason fate as the final College Football Playoff rankings of the 2024 season are just around the corner.

Alabama has had an up-and-down season, with road losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma, but wins over LSU, Wisconsin, Georgia, South Carolina and Missouri and two wins over Group 5 programs.

The final CFP rankings will be released at noon Sunday following the conference championships, which will host the College Football Playoff field and bowl games.

It is the first year of the 12-team College Football Playoff format, in which the top four conference champions receive byes in the first round. One additional conference champion automatically receives a bid, while the rest of the field is selected as an overall bid by the CFP committee.

The final College Football Playoff rankings will be released Dec. 8 at noon and run until 3 p.m. on ESPN

Alabama football CFP predictions

The Crimson Tide has a 9-3 record this year with wins over Georgia, LSU, Wisconsin and Auburn, just to name a few. It is slowed by road losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma.

Alabama was ranked 11th in the penultimate poll of the year and could make the playoffs depending on what happens during conference championship weekend.

How many teams are participating in the 2024 College Football Playoff?

In 2024, 12 teams will compete in the College Football Playoff, the first time there will be a dozen teams. The CFP has included four teams since its founding in 2014.
