Alabama WR Jaren Hamilton plans to enter the transfer portal

Alabama Wide receiver Jaren Hamilton plans to enter the transfer portal, according to Rivals. Hamilton still has three years of eligibility left.

Hamilton just finished his first season in Tuscaloosa. As a freshman, he appeared in two games against Middle Tennessee in the opener and then Chattanooga.

Hamilton played high school football at FW Buchholz (FL), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 282 recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that takes into account all four major recruiting media companies. He finished the season as the top-40 WR in the class and was the No. 55 player out of Florida.

Alabama in the transfer portal

Since the end of the regular season, a handful of Alabama players have entered their names into the NCAA transfer portal. Keanu Koht was the first player to enter on December 2, 2024. In this entire cycle, 31 players entered the portal before Hamilton.

The Crimson Tide just completed the 2024 season, their first under head coach Kalen DeBoer. Alabama posted a 9-3 record in the regular season, which not only put it out of the SEC title game, but also on the outside into the College Football Playoff.

Ultimately, Alabama was left out and ended up playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl against the Michigan Wolverines. That ended in a 19-13 win for Michigan, putting a bad end to the first year of the DeBoer era.

Although it’s still early, analyst and radio host Paul Finebaum thinks DeBoer is in trouble in Alabama. On “Get Up on Wednesday,” Finebaum explained more.

“It’s been a mess and the Alabama fans I’ve been in contact with since yesterday are crazy,” Finebaum said. “A lot of the good he did at the start of the season was lost. People will talk about, “Is he in trouble?” And he’s not in trouble because of his job, but let me be clear, the goodwill for him has been lost. Next year will be a very critical season for him as I firmly believe he is in a red hot seat. That doesn’t mean he’ll be fired, but he’ll be under a lot of pressure next year.”
