Spoilers for season one, episode one, “And in the beginning…”

Dexter… Life?

Let’s start here. It’s not exactly an Easter egg, but we definitely need to make one thing clear at the top. If you’ve only seen the original Dexter ran and somehow didn’t look Dexter: New Bloodthen maybe you thought Dexter was still a lumberjack somewhere. No! Not even close. The serial killer returned for a sequel a few years ago in the finale of New bloodDexter – wait for it – dies. Dies! Shot by his own teenage son, Harrison. So if you’re wondering why Dex was sitting in the back of a car, bleeding to death, but still alive? It was the same with every single person watching Dexter: New Blood. Expect… no, Demand! More answers when Dexter: Resurrection will premiere this summer, starring the resurrected Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan. (Phillips explained the decision THR.)

Dexter Rides

Okay, now we’ve got the wildest part behind us, let’s delve deeper. The very first scene from both of them Dexter And original sin They have one thing in common: Miami Metro’s deadliest blood spatter analyst is riding in a car. Of course, one of the big differences is the original Dexter’s confidence as he drove through the night in pursuit of prey during the original sin Dexter’s was just shot in the chest and is somehow still alive. Sorry, I’m still not quite over it!

Introducing Dexter Morgan

Whatever shock still exists at Dexter’s miraculous survival is quickly replaced by a great rush of nostalgia. The original sin The opening credits aren’t exactly an exact replica of the original series’ iconic version, but they’re pretty darn close – from the bloody breakfast to the knowing smile at the end. The transfer of Dexter’s familiar morning routine to Dexter successor Gibson gives the whole thing a worn-out feel while making it clear that we’re in for something new.

A story about shaggy hair

Shocked by young Dexter’s long-haired appearance in his first scene of the series? It comes straight from the original series, which often featured flashbacks starring an elderly Hall. And by “aged” I mean wearing a ridiculous long hair wig that makes him look like a teenager. It certainly works better with Gibson, but fortunately we are soon out of that era.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Speaking of hair, let’s talk about one of the show’s recurring characters. Forensic expert and confirmed pervert Vince Masuka returns original sinthis time played by Alex Shimizu, and this time, boasts of a whole head of hair. Please tell me we will have Masuka hair loss Origin story Consequence.

City of Angels

Continuing to enter recurring character territory, Angel Batista is back, and so is his hat! James Martinez plays a young version of the original series’ iconic detective, complete with his signature look: immaculate hat and lots of tropical shirts. It might be worth paying close attention to Angel’s story this season, because in the modern timeline, David Zayas’ version of the character Dexter just met is the Bay Harbor Butcher, who is sure to spark sparks resurrection turns on.

Evil urges

In the first episode we can see the entire Morgan family having dinner together, including Molly Brown in the very good Jennifer Carpenter as Deb and Christian Slater in the very good Christian Slater as Detective Harry Morgan. The scene does a great job of making you forget that Deb was in love with Dex for a season or two. At the same time, she dutifully reminds the audience that when this show begins, Harry already knows everything about Dexter’s dark passenger.

Goodnight, nurse

The original sin Premiere follows Dexter as he makes his first murder, and it’s not the first time we’ve seen these events dramatized. We originally saw Dexter’s first murder in the first season of the original series, in an episode called “Popping Cherry.” Obviously the death of Sister Mary is discussed in detail here original sinand seems to be something of a starting point for the rest of the season.

Tough start

After killing the nurse, Dexter makes some sloppy moves. For one thing, he dumps her body in a swamp and lets alligators devour her. On the other hand, he took the nurse’s earrings as a trophy. Expect the rest of the season to delve deeper into the reasons behind both of these decisions very badand why they will ultimately lead to Dexter using Bay Harbor as a burial ground, not to mention collecting blood samples as trophies.

You’re turning me right around

original sinThe very first episode ends with Dexter Morgan, Miami Metro’s newly appointed forensics intern, spinning around in a lab chair – just like in the first episode Dexter Series.

This story was originally published on December 15th and will be updated after each episode.
