Unfortunately, season 4 of Just murders in the building ends with a death that just isn’t as impactful as the previous ones. Lester (Teddy Coluca) is a fan-favorite and endearing character that has been around since the beginning. He is a relatable character whose strange stories are a welcome and funny addition to the overall concept of the series. Lester is also an important part of the Arconia’s environment, and his presence does a lot to make the building more lively and livable – well, it did a lot.

Lester’s death was surprising, but not necessarily painful or excitingespecially because it seems like he wasn’t the target, just collateral damage. Tea LeoniThe mysterious femme fatale type hinted that something was going on with the Arconia itself – perhaps the Mafia? – So Lester’s murder seems less personal than the three previous crimes in the building. This is all speculation, of course, but the show certainly hinted at a more elaborate plan for season five than just a crime of passion. It will be sad to see Lester gone, but his murder lacked the same tragic and truly effective element earlier cliffhanger in the series.

3 Season 1

Season 1 of Just murders in the building ended with a real bang. As the trio celebrated the end of a surprisingly successful first season, they unexpectedly found themselves embroiled in yet another mystery when the building’s notoriously cantankerous CEO, Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell), stumbled upon Mabel, who was stabbed in the chest with her sewing needles. Bunny was a constant and hilarious presence throughout the season, so to see her die in such a bloody way was truly surprising and almost shocking.

Bunny was big enough for her murder to be effective, but not important enough to be painful. Her interactions with the trio, especially Oliver, were intense, and her partnership with Uma (Jackie Hoffman) was a highlight of the series’ first season. However, The cliffhanger was less about her death and more about what it meant for the main trio; In fact, Mabel, Charles and Oliver are eventually arrested and escorted out of the Arconia, matching the Supremes’ 1967 cover of “Manhattan.” Still, Bunny’s death was perfect as an introduction to Season 2, as it hinted at a darker Season 2 made that no one is ever safe in Arconia.

By the end of season three, audiences had formed a strong bond with Sazz thanks to her undeniably sweet dynamic with Charles and her energetic, wholesome personality. Of course, it also helped that the wonderful Jane Lynch played the character at her best, easily making Sazz one of the show’s best guest stars. The cliffhanger also really came out of the blue; Everyone expected the season to end with another death – the show is a crime thriller, after all – but hardly anyone thought it would be Sazz. Her death was tragic and truly shocking, living up to the already high standards of the previous season’s ending.

1 Season 2

The murder of Ben Glenroy (Paull Rudd).

In hindsight the fact is that Just murders in the building The fact that they actually managed to get him to play a recurring role throughout the season is a real flex on the show’s part. Rudd debuted in the final episode of season two as Ben Glenroy, the star of Oliver’s long-awaited return to the Broadway stage.

Ben was a breath of fresh air both on the show and in the larger context of Rudd’s career. The show really took advantage of the popular actor’s comedic abilities by giving him a larger-than-life role that showcased not only his well-known humor, but also his darker and self-destructive side. It was really unexpected to see Paul Rudd popping in in the final minutes Just murders Season 2, and then when he dropped dead on stage, everyone in the audience gasped and started counting down the days until Season 3.
