  • Multi-year contract between STMicroelectronics and Renault Group secures Ampere’s supply of silicon carbide power modules

Boulogne-Billancourt (France) and Geneva (Switzerland) – December 3. 2024 – Ampsthe intelligent electric vehicle (EV), a pure player of the Renault Group and STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a leading global semiconductor company serving customers across the spectrum of electronic applications, today announced the next step in its strategic collaboration beginning in 2026 with a multi-year agreement between STMicroelectronics and Renault Group for the supply of silicon carbide (SiC) power modules ) as part of their collaboration on a power box for the inverter for Ampere’s high-efficiency electric drivetrain. Ampere and STMicroelectronics worked together to optimize the power module, the key element of the power box, to achieve the highest performance and best competitiveness in the electric powertrain, leveraging Ampere’s expertise in EV technology and STMicroelectronics’ expertise in advanced Power electronics.

This agreement is the result of intensive collaboration with STMicroelectronics. By working together up front, we were able to optimize and ensure the supply of key components for our electric powertrains to offer high-performance electric vehicles with longer range and optimized charging time. “It fits perfectly with Ampere’s strategy of mastering the entire power electronics value chain for its electric powertrain while leveraging STMicroelectronics’ expertise in power modules.” said Philippe Brunet, SVP Powertrain & EV Engineering, Ampere.
