An Osceola County father is charged with first-degree murder after officials said his son was found dead at a Kissimmee hotel in 2022. Larry Rhodes, 25, was formally indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday, prosecutors said. According to officials, officers with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a hotel in Kissimmee on July 5, 2022 following a report of a drowning. There, officers found an unconscious boy who later died in hospital. Investigators believe the child’s death was the result of injuries from child abuse, adding that there was also evidence that other children in the hotel room suffered physical abuse and neglect. According to officials, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a hotel in Kissimmee on July 5, 2022 following a report of a drowning accident. There, officers found an unconscious boy who later died in hospital.

Investigators believe the child’s death was the result of injuries from child abuse, adding that there was also evidence that other children in the hotel room were physically abused and neglected.

In addition to the murder charge, Rhodes also faces two counts of aggravated child abuse and four counts of child abuse.
