  • Adria Arjona returns as a revolutionary Bix Caleen in season 2 from Andor.
  • The actress breaks the weight and responsibility for the presentation of the first rape scene in the star Wars Story.
  • Things don’t get much better for BIX because it wrestles with PTBS.

In the star Wars Universe, there was no lack of proposed violence against women (we don’t even want to know what Jabba is up to with “slave leia”).

But in episode 3 of the second season of Andor, The show crosses a dramatic rubicon for the franchise and shows rape. When imperial forces descend on the planet, where Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona) hides, she and her co -refugees are kept on trot with Ferrix.

In her safe house alone, Bix is recorded by imperial lieutenant Krole (Alex Waldmann), one of the officers who carry out an alleged examination on the planet. After you told her: “I know that you are illegal. We counted visas. It is a difficult place for everyone”, then he offers a repulsive deal – have sex with him and he will not enter her.

When she asks him not to do this, he ignores her requests and tries to force herself and bix to provoke in self -defense, which includes several times with a wrench when they descend into a fight.

Although the scene was brutal and exhausting, Arjona director Ariel Kleiman praised the creation of an environment that felt safe for the actors. “We had an astonishing stunt team and partner in Ari as a director who shot this scene scientifically and in a so precise way to keep us from a million takes,” notes Arjona.

“It was a challenge because everyone who was involved in the creation of this scene star Wars“She adds.” But I also felt incredibly safe and padded when I could do it. It’s something Tony Gilroy does. He brings this mirror effect (shows) the things that can happen in our world, even in a distant galaxy. ”

Before Krole Bix attacks, he circles her like a predator in earlier scenes in which she calls the proven female line of defense and mentions her husband. However, Arjona would like to assure fans that although we essentially behaved like a married couple, we did not miss a wedding from Bix and Cassian (Diego Luna) in the off -season.

“It is a way to escape,” she explains. “It is very different for you to say: ‘My friend comes.’ She couldn’t respect her, or if she says my husband has power.

“It is more complex than a sweet wedding in the GAP year.” She continues. “She tries to get out of a very difficult situation, in which we, as women, unfortunately capture a lot.”

BIX is enforced the proverbial wringer this season, with the first episode block culminating in this attempted attack. But she is not doing well; She suffers from nightmares about the torture she experienced in season 1.

For Arjona, she found consolation and inspiration in real reports of women who survived rape and torture. “I had the feeling that I went through the spectacle games,” she says over season 2. “Research was harder. I read so many interviews and saw so many videos of people who actually went through it.”

“This process was most growing,” she reflects. “And it stayed with me. When I made the scenes, it felt like I was telling a small part of the story of the five people that I really refined in their stories.
