Andrew Cuomo should approach a run for the mayor

Three years after Andrew M. Cuomo has resigned the governor in a scandal cloud, he will make final preparations for the Mayor of New York City and could announce his candidacy this weekend, so four people familiar with the planning.

Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, continues to guard his intentions in accordance with and avoids media interviews and non -written public events. He kept silent about the scandal, which devoured his potential opponent, Mayor Eric Adams.

He won the confirmation on Monday by representative of Ritchie Torres, a bronx democrat who took a 2026 run for the governor. Several other legislators who spoke to Mr. Cuomo said it was clear that he fished for their support, even if he had not asked for a confirmation.

“He told me that he was considering running for the mayor,” said the meeting woman Rodneyse Bichotte Hermonyn, the chairwoman of Brooklyn Democratic Party, who is one of the mayor’s strongest allies. “And that he would like to continue working with me.”

Others came with the impression that Mr. Cuomo was closer to an announcement.

“If you ask me, it sounds like he’s all the way in,” said MP Brian Cunningham from Brooklyn after a recent call from Mr. Cuomo.

Mr. Richards, the President of the Queens Borough, and Mr. Wright, the democratic leader of Manhattan, have not given their intentions. Both rejected it to comment on.
