Anne Hathaway credits Christopher Nolan for reviving her career

Anne Hathaway credits Christopher Nolan with saving her career after she became a joke on the internet.

The 42-year-old actress is expected to star in her third Nolan film and narrates Daily women’s clothing in a profile from December 2024 that the director is the reason for her current success. She also emphasized how grateful she is to the 54-year-old filmmaker.

More from Spin:

“I have so many feelings about this that I don’t even know how to articulate them,” Hathaway said. “It fills me with so much joy… I love Chris and Emma Nolan so much and being invited into their world is one of the best places you can find.” Being invited twice felt special, but three times? That would have been greedy, so I never hoped that would happen. The fact that it is like this makes me emotional. It makes me feel like I’m doing something right.”

Hathaway has previously opened up Vanity Fair about how Nolan helped her career after she suffered intense criticism during her 2013 Oscar season Les Miserables.

“A lot of people didn’t give me roles because they were so worried about how toxic my identity had become online,” she said. “In Christopher Nolan, I had an angel who didn’t care and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve ever had, in one of the best films I’ve been in.”

Hathaway first worked with Nolan as Catwoman in The Dark Knight rises. She later played the lead role Interstellar alongside Matthew McConaughey and will now star in Nolan’s alongside Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Charlize Theron Oppenheimer follow up.

Production on the untitled film is expected to begin in early 2025, with a release date of July 17, 2026.
