Are there college football games today? Time, TV, Streaming for the Thanksgiving schedule

(This story has been updated to add new information).

While many will enjoy Thanksgiving meals, the number of college football players on Thursday is sparse.

However, that doesn’t mean the only game of the day won’t be good.

No. 18 Tulane, already scheduled for the American Athletic Conference championship game, hosts No. 23 Memphis in the only college football game of the day. Ole Miss and Mississippi State won’t have an Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving this year, and not even Texas-Texas A&M’s return will be enough to pull it off over the holiday.

A big reason college football games won’t be able to compete on Thanksgiving may be the avoidance of a head-to-head matchup with three NFL games on Thursday: Chicago Bears-Detroit Lions (12:30 p.m.); Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants (4:30 p.m.); and Miami Dolphins-Green Bay Packers (8:20 p.m.).

Here’s a look at the Thanksgiving Day 2024 schedule:

There are college football games today

  • Matchup: No. 23 Memphis at No. 18 Tulane

  • Time: 7:30 p.m. ET

  • TV channels: ESPN

  • Streaming: Fubo (free trial)

The only game played on Thanksgiving is a Top 25 matchup between AAC teams Tulane (9-2, 7-0 in conference play) and Memphis (9-2, 5-2). The Tigers will travel to New Orleans to face the Green Wave in a game that has no bearing on the AAC standings: Tulane is already scheduled to play in the AAC championship game against No. 22 Army (9-1, 7-0) suspended).

However, the game could have implications for the playoff race. Currently, Tulane is the second-highest Group of Five team in the CFP Top 25 and is ranked No. 17 overall. Should the Green Wave win – and Boise State lose a game – the winner of the AAC Championship could claim the coveted final automatic qualifying spot win in the newly expanded 12-team playoffs.

So there are a lot of stakes at stake for Thursday’s game.
