Armed man and woman with baby shot dead by police after car chase

NEW YORK – A man and a woman were shot and killed by police in Brooklyn after a chase, officials said.

According to police, the driver was armed, a man was in the passenger seat and a three-year-old girl was in the back seat.

According to police, the shooting occurred near Utica Avenue and Park Place in Crown Heights.

Sources tell FOX 5 NYs Jessica Formoso reported that a woman driving a black vehicle stopped on the corner of Utica Avenue as police approached. Officials said when officers reached the car, a male passenger began shooting and police returned fire.

Officials said the woman tried to flee on foot when the shooting broke out but was arrested shortly afterward.

FOX 5 NY confirmed that there were three people in the vehicle, including the man and woman who were shot and a three-year-old girl.

The woman was shot in the leg and is expected to survive, while the male passenger was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police recovered the weapon from the vehicle and the toddler was uninjured.
