Arsenal vs West Ham Premier League 2024 online streaming: start time, TV schedule, how to watch online

Arsenal travel east (and slightly south) through London this afternoon to take on West Ham in the Premier League. The Gunners appear to be getting into form and are aiming for their second three-game winning streak of the season. With Martin Ødegaard back in the lineup, Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 and shone against Sporting CP, convincingly defeating Liga leaders Portugal 5-1. Mikel Arteta’s side are virtually out of scope if they want to stay in the Premier League title race, so the upturn in form couldn’t have come at a better time.

It’s hard to get a grip on West Ham. They have lost almost all the games you would think they would lose and won most of the games you would think they would win. The most notable exceptions came in the last two games: a 0-0 draw against Everton at home and a 2-0 win against Newcastle away. Perhaps the realization is that they are an average team that takes what they are given, doesn’t earn much on their own and usually doesn’t give much away. They’re honest – they make you score points, but if you play well enough to win, you’ll probably beat them.

The last time the two clubs met, the Gunners beat the Hammers. Arsenal scored four goals against West Ham in the first half and added two more in the second half. The 6-0 win came during the period in February and March when Mikel Arteta’s side scored for fun, scoring 3, 4, 5 and even 6 times per game with relative regularity. Then again, this defeat came less than two months after West Ham beat a listless Arsenal side 2-0 at the Emirates. This was one of the worst performances and most damaging results for the Gunners all season.

Admittedly, both of these results were achieved last season, but they seem to support the conclusion that you get out what you put in against West Ham. Arsenal were battered and exhausted at the Emirates and played poorly – they lost. Arsenal were rested and high flying at the London Stadium – they beat West Ham.

Julen Lopetegui’s side will be without Arsenal-linked Mohammed Kudus, who is serving the final game of his five-game ban for putting his hands on Micky Van de Ven’s face and neck. Speaking of the West Ham coach, he will be watching from the stands because he picked up his third yellow card of the season in the Hammers’ 2-0 win over Newcastle. Niclas Fullkrug, West Ham’s £27million summer signing, is getting closer to his return from the Achilles tendon injury that has sidelined him since August, but he is still a few games away. Centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo left West Ham’s last game in shock – it is not clear whether he will be available for today’s game against Arsenal.

In his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta did not give an update on Gabriel Magalhaes. The Brazilian centre-back was ruled out against Sporting due to injury and it remains to be seen whether he will be available again today. There are rumors that Gabriel Martinelli could also be out due to a minor problem. Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are missing long-term.
