As temperatures drop, here’s how to stay warm this winter

As bitterly cold weather takes hold, warming centers are now open for those in need to stay warm this winter, Milwaukee County officials have announced.

The centers are open daily from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. General opening hours start at 8:00 p.m. every day.

A warming center is a short-term emergency shelter where people can warm up when temperatures or winds become dangerously low.

Here is a list of warming centers open through March 31:

Unity Lutheran Church, 1025 E. Oklahoma Ave.

Guest House of Milwaukee, 1216 N. 13th St. For more information, call 414-345-3240.

St. Ben’s, 930 W. State St., opens Dec. 1. For more information, call 414-271-0135. The coordinated admission team is there for you personally on Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m

Repairers of the Breach, 1335 W. Vliet St., will open Dec. 1. For more information, call 414-934-9305. You will find the coordinated admission team in person on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission, 830 N. 19th St., will open Dec. 1. For more information, call 414-344-2211.
