Astros finalization of the opening squad with the former second of Baseman

The Houston Astros made their last opening cadre decision for their matchup with the New York Mets.

Jose Altuve makes the full -time switch the left field. Now there are some growing pain with him defensive, but he will stay at the outfield position of the corner.

With Altuve in the outer field, an opening in the second basis for Houston remains.

The original idea is that Mauricio Dubon takes over the start job on the second basis. This spring, however, he only used .143/.231/.200. He also ended with zero RBI and zero runs, which were scored in 15 games played.

Because of these fights, Houston’s last squad decision went to another second Baseman.

Per Chandler Rome from The Athletic, who posted Brendan Rodgers on his account on X (formerly Twitter), recorded the opening day.

The Astros will present its official 26-man squad and take the last squad about four hours before its opening game.

Rodgers was signed for a Minor League contract and received an invitation to spring training in this low season.

This spring he reduced .233/.250/.349 with eight RBI, four runs and five doubles in 15 played games. These key statistics are not the best, but he did not make a mistake in the field in 78.0 defensive innings.

The 28-year-old started his career at the Colorado Rockies.

The first two years of his career were not great, but it became an integral part of the line -up in 2021. Since this year the right -handed man has replaced you with 45 Home Runs, 188 RBI, 209 runs, an OPS+ of 95 and 6.9.

Defensive, the second Baseman was always able to put the ball well. In fact, in 2022 he was able to win the National League Gold Glove Award.

He lacks some strength on the plate, but he can hit for average. In addition, his glove is more able to earn a daily job. It was a little surprise that Rodgers took so long to sign a team for so long.

After finding a home with the Astros, Rodgers played well enough to be added to the 40-man squad and get a place on the opening day.

It is not yet possible to determine who will be the starting baseman for Houston, but there is a fantastic chance for Rodgers to deserve regular playing time in Daikin Park.

The earlier choice in the first round should have many chances to prove themselves this season. If he set up the ball well and continue to meet the average, he becomes the everyday player on the right side of the Infield.
