ORIGINAL STORY

RIGBY – An early morning fire destroyed a home in Rigby.

According to Jefferson County Central Fire District Chief Nic White, it happened around 2 a.m. at 200 East and 1st South on ID Highway 48.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but White told EastIdahoNews.com that it started in the attic.

“It spread through the roof pretty quickly. We had to tear down the entire ceiling to get to the fire,” White said.

Firefighters had it out of action within about 15 minutes.

No one was inside at the time, so no one was injured.

The house is no longer livable, White said, but it can be repaired. He estimates damages at around $150,000 to $200,000.

In an email to EastIdahoNews.com, Janiah Keeler says this was her father’s house. He lost everything in the fire and is not insured.

“I will post my Venmo (in the graphic) below and would greatly appreciate any help!” Keeler says.
