SACRAMENTO — A suspected burglar was arrested after leading officers on a chase in a stolen car in the Sacramento area, authorities said Friday.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said it first received a call about a burglary on Chandler Drive in south Sacramento around 3 p.m.

A suspect failed to break into one home, but did manage to gain entry to another home, authorities said. The suspect, who has not yet been identified, is said to have stolen a car from the garage of the second home.

According to investigators, during the attempted break-in into the first house, the homeowner fired at least one shot at the suspect. It is not yet clear whether the injury the suspect sustained was the result of being hit by a bullet or the subsequent pursuit by law enforcement.

Officers located the suspect and pursued the subject south on Highway 99. The suspect was brought to a stop near Arno Road, south of Elk Grove, with tack strips and then taken into custody.
