Ayo Edebiri misses stand-up comedy

Ayo Edebiri misses stand-up comedy.

The 29-year-old started her career as a stand-up comedian and writer before she was famous as an actress in the bear thanks to her role as chef Sydney.

During a video interview for the W-Magazin, EDEBIRI admitted that she missed that she was standing in front of a live audience.

“I miss it to make stand-up. I love stand-up. I think that’s like my first love,” she said. “I sometimes miss it to be stupid. And I love live performance. I love film and I love television, but it is something to be in a room with people and play with energy. No night is the same, not a set is the same. You can tell the same joke and it will be completely different from each other, just based in the room.”

However, the Bottoms star admitted to being a stand-up comedian because she is an actress because she wants to be known for her characters rather than for her opinions.

“If you are like a woman who thinks or has opinions, it’s a very specific thing, and I think it doesn’t tense actresses well or worse,” she said. “It takes people from seeing you as everyone when she knows your thoughts and I think that was something that was very fascinating for me to navigate.”

Edebiri cited another problem and found that the majority of what she says in stand-up contains “a joke” or “a little bit of playfulness”, but people often think that she is “dead”.

The star won two Sag Awards, an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the bear. The groundbreaking role has ended up in films such as Theater Camp, Opus and after hunting.
