Baby Killed, Parents Arrested for Murder in Sacramento County

Two Sacramento County parents face murder charges in connection with the death of their young daughter. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hussein Abughazaleh and Kristina Siedlecki on Tuesday and sent them to the Sacramento County Jail. According to Sacramento County investigators, 8-month-old Jannah Abughazaleh was unresponsive and died Aug. 25 from second- and third-degree burns covering 25-35% of her body. Investigators said the child’s parents described the child suffering burns from bathwater. According to investigators, despite the child’s injuries, both parents decided not to seek medical attention until it was too late. “What they revealed.” What was important to me during the investigation was the fact that they knew she was dying and they didn’t take her to the hospital because they didn’t want to be arrested and because they didn’t want CPS interfering with her family,” said Det. Leslie Trau said. KCRA 3 sat down with the baby’s grandmother, Naomi Magness. Magness is the mother of Hussein Abughazaleh. “I don’t want anyone to have to go through this,” Magness said. Magness said she was worried about the baby Magness said that without receiving a message from CPS, she called an abuse hotline, which connected her to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and then the coroner’s office confirmed, that the child had died. Magness said she feels the child protection system has failed her family. “You should have taken the baby. She lost her life. She didn’t even have a chance to have a life and you messed it up by not taking the baby out,” Magness said. CPS had no official comment to KCRA 3. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hussein Abughazaleh and Kristina Siedlecki on Tuesday and booked them into the Sacramento County Jail.

According to Sacramento County investigators, 8-month-old Jannah Abughazaleh was unresponsive and died Aug. 25 after suffering second- and third-degree burns to 25-35% of her body.

Investigators said the child’s parents described the child suffering burns from bathwater.

According to investigators, despite the child’s injuries, both parents decided not to seek medical attention until it was too late.

“What they revealed to me during the investigation was the fact that they knew she was dying and didn’t take her to the hospital because they didn’t want to get arrested and because they didn’t want CPS to get involved. “Family,” Det. Leslie Trau said.

KCRA 3 caught up with the baby’s grandmother, Naomi Magness.

Magness is the mother of Hussein Abughazaleh.

“I don’t want anyone to have to go through something like this,” Magness said.

Magness said she was concerned about the child’s safety even before the child was born and contacted CPS in hopes of protecting the child’s well-being.

Magness said that without word from CPS, she called an abuse hotline, which connected her to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and then to the coroner’s office, confirming that the child had died.

Magness said she feels the child protection system has failed her family.

“You should have taken the baby out. She lost her life. She didn’t even have a chance to have a life and you messed it up by not taking the baby out,” Magness said.

CPS has not made any official comment on KCRA 3.
