Basketball: Kilgore College Rangers overtake Ambassador Prep, 96-52 | sport

KILGORE – Cameroon Woodberry and Abdullah Olajuwon combined for 43 points and the Kilgore College Rangers built a big halftime lead en route to a 96-52 victory over Ambassador Prep on Saturday at Masters Gymnasium.

Woodberry led Kilgore (5-2) with 23 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals. Olajuwon added 20 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Kaiden Myers (15) and Savod Godwin (12) also scored in double figures for KC. Myers added two assists and two steals and Godwin had four rebounds.

Jonathan Byrd and Ty Hurndon finished with seven points each, Joshua Olutayo six and Nekabari Mii, Aleksa Lekic and Bryson Holmes two each. Hurndon had nine rebounds, Olutayo eight and Byrd seven. Byrd also had seven assists and six steals.

The Rangers will open Region XIV Conference play on Wednesday, December 4th with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Trinity Valley at Masters Gymnasium.

Women’s basketball

MIDLAND – The KC Lady Rangers lost two close games in West Texas over the weekend, falling 77-72 to Midland on Friday and 76-74 to Odessa on Saturday.

Against Midland, Madison Bob had 17 points, Jarahle Daniels 15, Nakiyah Allen 14, Kamari Forrest eight, Anyla Herbert seven, Brooklyn King three and Alana Trail, Lucy Henderson, Rhianna Battles and Camryn Beck two each. Herbert had eight rebounds, with Bob and Beck contributing seven each. Herbert also had four steals and Daniels and Trail each had three.

In the loss to Odessa, Daniels outscored KC with 20 points. Allen was just behind with 19. Henderson had 12, Bob 11, Trail six and Herbert, Beck and Forrest two each.

Allen had 13 rebounds, Bob 10 and Henderson six. Daniels led the way with five steals, Bob added four and Henderson dished out four assists.

KC returns home to host Western Gulf Collegiate on December 4th at 5:30 p.m.
