Battlehawks try to recover from the first loss when you visit Arlington

Anthony Becht is not about to press the panic button.

There will be no rash or knee jerk reactions of the St. Louis trainer, since the Battlehawks want to delete the memory of 12 points against DC on Sunday.

Despite a below-average performance on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., the quarterback Manny Willikins will start in the center when St. Louis (2-1) travels to an United Football League competition (ABC-TV) to Arlington (2-1).

Wilkins turned the ball over four times in a 27-15 setback to DC, including three interceptions.

These efforts stood in a strong contrast to his outstanding achievements in the season opening against Houston and San Antonio.

But Becht adheres to the 29-year-old veteran.

“I have to push confidence in my quarterback and I will allow him to manage and take care of the ball and do things that he did in the first two games,” said Becht.

Wilkins scored 16 out of 29 passes for 147 yards against the defenders.

The Arizona State product connected in 29 out of 38 passes for 351 yards and in the first two games hurried 101 yards and two points. His 12 out of 16 appearances against San Antonio earned him the honor of the UFL offensive players of the week.

Nevertheless, there was a great decline against the defenders who are a lonely unbeaten team in the eight team league.

“I just have to do better work to control football,” said Wilkins. “When we know situations of the game and enable ourselves to get more points.”

Wilkins is happy that Becht stays with him for the time being.

“This year we had a lot of conversations about how safe he was in my game and what I can do for this team,” said Wilkins. “My self -confidence did not swish a bit. It is disappointing, this loss, but it doesn’t make me eye, it doesn’t let me get into the (this game) nervous or similar.”

Becht and his employees have an option. The Backup Quarterback Max Duggan played well on the camp and should share with Wilkins at the start of the season with Wilkins. But Wilkins was so sharp that Duggan never had a chance until the end of the opening when the competition was almost decided.

Wilkins sees the competition on Saturday as a challenge.

“The best thing is to show how they bounce back from these things. It’s about getting in and preparing for the ball,” said Wilkins.

St. Louis Wideout and Punt Returner Jahcour Pearson said the team was still completely behind Wilkins. And he expects the crime to recover in a large way.

“We have a lot to prove this week to correct the mistakes we made and go from there,” said Pearson. “It is behind us. We just have to move in the right direction.”

Bad memories of defense

St. Louis fought in his trip to Arlington last season and gave up 36 points in a defeat of 14 points against the Renegades in a competition of the 9th week.

Free Safety Qwynnterrio Cole said this will not happen again.

“You never lose the feeling for a team that gave you a loss. This is always in mind to get redemption,” said Cole. “It is a new team and we want to achieve a win.”

St. Louis gave up only 15 points in his first two games this season and held DC on three field goals and 18 points until the last 2:21 of the competition.

“We know that we can do it better,” said Cole.

The two XFL division opponents will meet for the second time in three weeks if they face the Dome in the America’s Center on May 2.

“It is planned to get back on the right track,” said Pearson. “We are pretty confident that we can do that.”
