Beau Pribula plans to revisit a new transfer portal after leaving Penn State

Former Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula has had a whirlwind week, and it’s not over yet.

After attending Penn State practice on Sunday, he announced his intention to enter the transfer portal later that day. According to reports from 247Sports and On3, he visited UCF on Thursday after visiting Missouri and Iowa earlier in the week.

New reports from the two recruitment services revealed another wrinkle in Pribula’s upcoming schedule. He plans to visit Ole Miss on Friday, in addition to an already announced trip to Indiana.

The Central York product, who backed up Drew Allar for two seasons and scored a comeback win against Wisconsin this year, threw for 275 yards and five touchdowns on 36-for-35 passing this season. He was a key dual threat in Penn State’s offense, rushing 38 times for 242 yards and four scores.

Pribula’s entry into the transfer portal was a direct result of Allar’s intentions to return to Penn State next season. As James Franklin said this week, Penn State tried to find solutions that would allow Pribula to both enter the portal and remain in the College Football Playoff, but they failed to find a perfect solution. Such a busy schedule within a week of taking office makes it clear why this decision had to be made.

“I can give you my word, Beau Pribula did not want to leave our program until the end of the season,” Franklin said. “But the way the portal is, the timing, the way our team plays, and when you play the quarterback position and there’s only one spot and those spots are getting filled more and more, he felt , as if he had reached a dead end. Win situation and I agree with him.

“…Beau Pribula is a wonderful young man. And I would recruit him every year. Knowing everything I know now, I would recruit Beau with all my might. Beau grew up wanting to come to Penn State his whole life. This is his dream school. And he had a phenomenal career here. And most of all, I want everyone to understand that.”
