Bend Police and CERT Make Arrest in Shooting Incident in SW Bend; Raid reveals weapons and ammunition

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Three months after a trespassing dispute led to two shootings in the Romaine Village area of ​​southwest Bend, police and the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team arrested a 29-year-old suspect at his home, where It involved several firearms and ammunition.

Officers and CERT members served a search warrant and arrested a suspect in the Sept. 1 incident, said Sheila Miller, Bend police communications manager.

The initial charges include felon in possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of firearms, first-degree harassment and second-degree menacing. NewsChannel 21’s policy is not to name those arrested until formal charges are filed.

Late in the evening of September 1st, police responded to a reported weapons crime near the intersection of Romaine Village Way and Ridge Drive.

The victim said he was driving away from his business in a golf cart when he saw a man and woman at a nearby property, Miller said. According to the victim, he pointed a flashlight in her direction and asked her to leave the property.

A domestic disturbance ensued and as the victim drove away, the man fired two shots. Miller said two 9mm casings were found at the scene.

The incident required a large police presence to investigate and no suspect was immediately identified. Police had asked anyone with information to contact them.
