A team from Bengaluru police reached Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, the native of the accused, on Friday to investigate the case. The accused have already sought early bail and maintained their innocence in Subash’s suicide, sparking nationwide outrage. The Bengaluru police lodged an FIR implicating the woman and her family members in the case.

The police investigation revealed that Subhash was involved in a contentious legal battle over divorce and child custody, which he said added to his emotional distress. Singhania and her family members had demanded 3 crore to withdraw cases against Subhash and 30 lakh for visitation rights to see his son. This led to Subash becoming mentally distressed and he decided to end his life.

On December 9, Atul Subash was found at his residence along with a suicide note and a video in which his wife Nikita Singhania was accused of constant harassment and demanding a large sum in the name of maintenance. According to reports, Subash emailed his death notice to several people and shared it in a WhatsApp group of an NGO he was associated with. He also hung a poster in his home that read, “Justice is due.”

The Bengaluru police formed two teams and started investigating the case. They collected all the evidence before the arrest and even served notices to Singhanias to join the investigation in Bengaluru.
