Bernards Parish Police Officers Honored by Saint James School

BASKING RIDGE, NJ – Saint James School held its annual Blue Mass on Wednesday, honoring and praying for local police officers in Bernards Township and the surrounding area.

In attendance were students, teachers, staff and school administrators, parents, law enforcement representatives and families of students who work in law enforcement.

Reverend Monsignor Sylvester J. Cronin celebrated the Blue Mass with Deacon Robert A. Barry.

Cronin spoke about how “police service is a calling and when these men and women put on their uniform to serve our communities, they have a purpose.”

He also mentioned that “every day, not just Thanksgiving, we should give thanks for what these men and women do for our local communities.”

After the mass, guests stood in front of the assembled students, teachers, staff and parents to be honored.

Cronin again thanked the police officers in attendance and reminded them that when their day gets tough and nothing seems to be going right, they should always know that our school and our students have their back and are praying for their safety.

The police officers then received a standing ovation and the choir opened the meeting
“God bless America.”
