Bills make final decision on Keon Coleman injury before 49ers clash

The Buffalo Bills will not have wide receiver Keon Coleman, who has been out since Week 10, available for the third straight game as he was downgraded to retirement with a wrist injury, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

“Sources: #Bills rookie WR Keon Coleman, questionable tonight with a wrist injury, will be out against the #49ers, missing his third straight game. Coleman has made significant progress, but the team will give him another week to fully recover.”

The rookie was having a solid season before his injury in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins. In nine games, the former Florida State football playmaker collected 22 receptions for 417 yards and three touchdowns. His 10 receptions for more than 20 yards still lead the team.

The Bills are also without DT DeWayne Carter (wrist) and TE Dalton Kincaid (knee). LB Matt Milano, who came off injured reserve, is expected to make his season debut.

The Kansas City Chiefs have dominated the top-heavy AFC. With the No. 1 seed likely based at Arrowhead Stadium, the Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers are the team’s most dominant remaining teams. All five teams have a 90% or better chance of making the playoffs.

Heading into the game against the San Francisco 49ers, cornerback Rasul Douglas believes the team needs to focus on Brock Purdy given his injury concerns, according to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg.

“I don’t think you ever look at it like, ‘Oh, he’s not playing.’ You play as a starter,” Douglas said. “We believe that’s why he took a break last week to play this week. I mean, that’s just our attitude that he’s going to play. If the game comes and he doesn’t play, we’ll just keep the same plan.”

Josh Allen praises head coach Sean McDermott for keeping the Bills focused this year in a press conference.

“I think Coach McDermott is doing a great job of making sure that when we come back (after the break game), we don’t necessarily pick up where we left off, but rather go back to what we did in training camp, get back to it .” “Go to the basics, focus on what’s important,” Allen said. “Again, playing situational football and just doing it better, and I think that’s something he preached to us and, again, the guys in that locker room have handled that with flying colors over the last seven or eight years.”

“It depends on the boys playing on the field, but good leadership will do that.”

The Bills host the 49ers on Sunday Night Football, which begins tonight at 8:20 p.m. EST.
