Black Friday Shopping in San Angelo: Concho Valley Deals to Draw Customers to Local Stores

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) – Hundreds of Concho Valley residents spent Friday shopping for Black Friday. San Angelo shoppers flooded Sunset Mall, local malls and downtown San Angelo. Black Friday is a national tradition popularized in the 1980s by retailers to offer special deals on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Some stores have deals the night before or even the week before and extend those deals over the weekend. One person says they shop every year because of nostalgia.

Chris Win said, “Black Friday shopping, after eating a turkey, the tryptophan made me sleepy, I woke up at 6 a.m. and went with my family to the nearest mall – Best Buy, Target – just to find something.” Christmas is just around the corner and this is my fondest memory of all this.”

Some stores also extended their opening hours to accommodate the increase in shoppers. According to the National Retail Federation, the top purchases this year include clothing, gift items such as gift cards and toys, and electronics. Some consumers prefer to shop in person rather than online.

Win said: “I think there will be a lot of shopping again. With so many delays in shipping and online shopping and coming and seeing things in person while you’re here, what I like about it is seeing what you’re buying instead of seeing it being shipped, and that’s it That’s how it’s fun.”

Most local bargains end on Sunday, but some online stores continue online shopping until Cyber Monday.
