“Black Sails” will stream on Tubi starting December 1st

pirates of the Caribbean brought swashbuckling adventures back to the big screen in 2003, sparking a wave of pirate movies and TV shows. Almost a decade after Jack Sparrow created a new pirate legend, Black sails was a more mature offering that prioritized Robert Louis Stephenson’s characters Treasure Island new backstories to what really happened game of Thrones on the high seas. The series is now available to stream for free Tubiso those who haven’t seen the show yet can watch all the exciting action for free.



Originally aired from 2014 to 2017 Treasure Island The prequel features several well-known characters, including one John Silver and Captain Flint, as well as some real historical figures whose paths cross the fictional pirates years before the events in Stephenson’s novel. Essentially what Evil did for The Wizard of Oz. Set in the early 18th century, Captain James Flint and his crew face a harsh world full of betrayal, power struggles and lust, but in no way fall into the old clichés of pirate stories of the past, making this a hidden gem series.


When it debuted, Black sails Due to the slower paced narrative, the film received mixed reviews, although it did well in its second season with a perfect score and good reviews thereafter. The character-centric story forged a new story around some familiar names and the series quickly gained a loyal fan base. The series stars Toby Stephens as Captain Flint, while Luke Arnold plays cunning chef “Long” John Silver. The rest of the series’ crew includes Hannah New, Jessica Parker, Toby Schmitz and Clara Paget.


Over a decade after its original debut Black sails has not only continued to captivate with its action sequences, but has developed a significant cult following in the LBGTQ+ community thanks to the inclusion of several bi, gay and lesbian character portrayals, such as that of Flint. While many shows and films are criticized for incorporating this type of representation into stories, Black sails received much praise for authentically portraying queer experiences in a historical context.
