Bleacher Report names the Hornets’ biggest regret

With the score at 7:25 and no clear path to the play-in game, the Charlotte Hornets probably have a lot of regrets. This season was terrible practically from the start. The team either can’t stay healthy or can’t beat even the worst teams in the NBA. There are many things that could be pointed out, but Bleacher Report only detailed what they probably regret most.

Before bringing back Miles Bridges, Hornets governor Gabe Plotkin stated that LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Mark Williams and the player selected sixth overall (who would later be Tidjane Salaun) formed the core of the team that would continue to progress.

Not long after, the Hornets signed Miles Bridges to a massive $75 million contract for three seasons. Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley says this is her biggest regret so far. “This felt aggressive for someone with a very uncertain free agency market, considering he missed the entire 2022-23 season after entering a no-contest plea on domestic violence charges,” he wrote .

“If they are offered a mulligan, that is likely a decision the Hornets would like to reconsider, either to let Bridges leave or at least sign him on more team-friendly terms,” Buckley continued. “His numbers have dropped in quality and quantity, and.” He has a high number of touches (the third-most shots on the team) that would probably be better invested in the development opportunities of younger players who may have a longer future with this franchise. “

Although Bridges had just 31 points, he needed 32 shots to reach that point total. He was injured and not nearly as effective in the 2024-25 season. The forward is averaging 17.9 points and 7.7 rebounds on 42.1% from the field. He also shoots a poor 27.7% from three. Bridges is experiencing career lows in field goal percentage, three-point percentage and steals. The points would be the lowest since 2020-2021, when he was primarily a substitute.
