Bloomington police find no evidence of OJ Simpson’s confession

Bloomington police say rumors of an alleged confession by OJ Simpson with ties to Minnesota are untrue.

On March 3, 2022, a man was arrested in Bloomington for attacking and stabbing a woman in the 10000 block of Lyndale Avenue South. A search warrant was issued to collect evidence at the crime scene.

During the search, several items were seized, including a backpack containing USB sticks.

On June 14, 2024, investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department contacted the Bloomington Police Department. Authorities say either the man who was arrested or his attorney said one of the USB drives contained a recording of OJ Simpson confessing to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

A search warrant was then issued for “the image capture of 6 USB flash drives so that a full forensic examination of all 6 USB flash drives can be conducted to attempt to obtain the recording.”

In July, all six items were photographed by a digital forensic expert and examined by Bloomington Police detectives.

Investigators found no information valuable to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Brown Simpson and Goldman were found stabbed to death on June 12, 1994, and after one of the most sensational trials of all time, Simpson was acquitted of all criminal charges.

In 1997, a civil jury found Simpson liable for wrongful death in the double murder and was ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages to the Brown and Goldman families.

Simpson died earlier this year after a battle with cancer.
