Blue Jays to sign Max Scherzer

The blue Jays and the right -handed Max Scherzer Jon Heyman from New York Post reports that voices agree on a deal. It is a one -year pact per Bob Wennendengale from USA Today. It is a guarantee of 15.5 mm per Heyman. The deal for the Boras Corporation customer is a physical exception.

Scherzer is obviously a legend in the game and a future Hall of Famer. He made his debut in 2008, has almost 3,000 innings in the majors with an average of 3.16 deserved run, three cytung trophies, eight all-star selection and two World Series rings.

The question is what he left in the tank at that time. He is now 40 years old and has a season with injury. He started on the injured list in 2024 while recovering from the offseason recovery surgery. Although he recovered from it, he also fought a nerve problem in his hand, shoulder tiredness and a tense thigh throughout the season. He was limited to just nine starts and 43 1/3 Innings.

This obviously creates some worry, but Scherzer was remarkably durable throughout his career. In every full season from 2009 to 2023, he made 27 or more starts and recorded at least 145 1/3 innerings. From 2013 to 2018 he had six seasons in a row on the 200 Interning plateau. In short, 2024 was the first season of his career, in which he missed significant time.

Although the volume of its edition was low, some of the results were still decent last year. He achieved an average of 3.95 deserved runs in these nine starts. His strike rate of 22.6% was a decline for him personally, but still around the league average, while his 5.6% Walk rate was still a very strong brand. His speed had also dropped on his fastball and last year went from 93.7 miles per hour in 2023 to 92.5 miles per hour.

More come.
