The episode began with U20 team captain Oliver Aiku talking about his football career since childhood. Originally, Oliver aspired to become a striker and become the best striker in the world.

However, his coach stressed that football is a team sport where success is shared and not just attributed to those who score goals. Oliver reflected on his rise to stardom and his ultimate decision to become the best defender in the world by beating the strikers he faced.

Despite his success, Oliver believed that he had not been allowed to fully develop as a player, claiming that only the chosen could reach their full potential. He expressed that if the Blue Lock program had existed three years earlier, he might have been part of it.

As the Blue Lock 11 team pushed forward to level the score, Oliver went into a flow state, stopping their advance and initiating a counter-attack for the U20 team.

Sae Itoshi delivered a precise pass to Ryusei Shidou, positioning him to score. However, Gin Gagamaru blocked Ryusei’s shot with a burst of flexibility and agility. Mikage Reo cleared the ball by successfully mimicking Seishiro Nagi’s move that allowed Blue Lock to score the first goal.

Gin and Mikage’s defensive efforts sparked a counterattack from Blue Lock, led by Yoichi Isagi. Yoichi came up with a plan to create a scoring opportunity.

His goal was to get the ball close to the goal, get a pass in the right position for his direct shot and make sure Oliver stayed too far away to block it. With Tabito Karasu joining the attack, Yoichi had another asset on the field who could help him implement his strategy.

However, Sae anticipated Yoichi’s plan and intercepted him in the penalty area before he could fire a shot. Despite having a defender at his side, Yoichi tried to shoot, but Sae knocked him off balance.

At the last moment, Rin Itoshi appeared in front of the U20 goal and demanded a pass. Before the ball could reach Rin, Oliver covered him, but Shoei Baro intercepted the ball and scored the equalizer, leveling the score at 4-4.

After the goal, Shoei explained his actions. He explained that he viewed Rin as an extension of Yoichi, as Yoichi and Rin worked in sync. Shoei decided that Rin was his target to surpass by closely watching Yoichi’s movements.
