Body of missing Ohio woman found in Alabama

DELTA, Ala. (WCMH) – The body of a Marsyville woman last seen in September was found by a hunter in Alabama on Saturday.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office said the hunter reported the body around 11:30 a.m. and dispatched officers to an area five miles northeast of Cheaha State Park. The coroner’s office then identified the remains as belonging to Vendula “Wendy” Rose. Last seen on Sept. 24, the Marysville Police Division said Rose had been more than nine hours away for a hike in Alabama. She was scheduled to return to Marysville on October 2 but never arrived.

Shortly after she was initially reported missing, investigators found her car parked at the Pinhoti Trailhead on Oct. 8. Cleburne County officials searched for Rose on foot along 36 miles of surrounding trails and also checked remote areas using helicopters and drones.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office said it will issue an official statement on Rose’s recovery on Monday. Anyone with information or questions is asked to contact the chief deputy at 256-463-2277.
