Braden Smith to return to the senior season

The expectations of Purdue Basketball for the 2025-26 season just as much higher than Braden Smith announced that he will return to West Lafayette for his senior season and decided not to test the NBA-Draft water.

After Smith returns, Purdue gets the probable leader for the international of the year. He was already Big Ten player of the year, an all-American, the Bob Cousy award winner and finalist for the international of the year. Now he gets a last game with co-seniors Trey Kaufman racing and Fletcher Loyer. In combination with the returning starter CJ Cox Purdue, four of his five starters will return, and it has a fifth, prefabricated in Daniel Jacobsen or Oscar Cluff in the middle.

Smith also needs 318 assists in 2025-26 to bind the NCAA assist brand of 1,076, which were determined by Bobby Hurley. It is almost certain that he only becomes the fifth player in the history of Division I to reach 1,000 career templates.
