Bryce James shines with Lebron during senior night game at Sierra Canyon

It was a night to remember for Sierra Canyon’s Bryce James. He has missed a handful of high school basketball games throughout his career, mostly because he was ineligible to play, with the son of Lakers star Lebron James bouncing around a few times over the course of his time as a prep player. But none of that mattered on Thursday night as James showed up and delivered a strong performance on his school’s senior night.

With the entire James family in attendance, Bryce led Sierra Canyon to an 84-42 victory over Loyola, scoring 12 points and recording five rebounds and four assists in the contest. The 6-foot-2 James is committed to playing college basketball at the University of Arizona starting next year and is considered a three-star prospect despite his limited high school appearances.

With the win, Sierra Canyon improves to 15-3 on the season and remains at the top of the California high school basketball scene. With the program currently ranked 17th in the state and still having games left against strong teams like Harvard-Westlake, the Trailblazers will look to stay on top of their game heading into the most crucial point of the season for their playoff chances.

James officially committed to Arizona on New Year’s Day and also received offers from three other programs, with Ohio State, USC and Duquesne showing interest. USC is the same school where Bryce’s older brother Bronny played his only NCAA season before turning pro. Although Lebron never attended college, Ohio State is a school he is a fan of since he is from Ohio.

Overall, Bryce was ranked as the 47th best shooting guard in the country in his class, while he was also ranked as the 29th best player overall in California. But as he looks to finish his prep career successfully before heading to the Big 12, James will look to prove the doubters wrong and show he can compete with anyone.
