Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a ’90s reboot, will stream on a non-Disney service in early 2025

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fans are a bit like vampires – we never tire of empathizing with Sunnydale and all of its many juicy residents. When the television series first hit screens in 1997, it changed the entire landscape of teen pop culture.

The series is a remake of the 1992 film of the same name starring Kristy Swanson and follows Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar), a teenage girl who learns that she is the “chosen one” and must therefore protect her hometown from vampires and other supernatural monsters must.

For seven seasons, Buffy became a real cultural phenomenon, similar to the US sitcom Friends which also aired between 1997 and 2003. The series led to the spin-off angelwhich ran from 1999 to 2004, as well as wave after wave of merchandise.

Matching novels, action figures, and video games helped satisfy bloodthirsty fans who wanted more from the world of Sunnydale. Even today, 27 years after the series premiered, the franchise is still successful and continues in the form of new graphic novels and audio books.

But although there has been talk of a reboot for years, nothing has come to light. According to legendary singer/songwriter Dolly Parton, who served as a producer on the series, there are currently discussions about a possible revival, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Despite it, Buffy the Vampire Slayer remains incredibly popular with fans. In 2019, the property was acquired by Disney when it purchased 20th Century Fox Studios. The series, along with the spin-off angelbecame available on Disney+ under the Star brand in February 2021.

Since then, fans have enjoyed the resurgence of Sunnydale characters such as Xander Harris (Nicholas Brendon), Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan), Rupert Giles (Anthony Head), Angel (David Boreanaz), and the Slayer herself, Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar). ).

Now all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are set to debut on UK streaming service ITVX, part of the ITV network, giving UK fans without access to Disney+ the chance to immerse themselves in one of the most popular teen shows of the ’90s.

You’ll still need an ITVX subscription to enjoy all 145 episodes as Buffy Summers takes on supernatural proportions in Sunnydale, but at least you’ll have more options and won’t have to rely on Disney+ if you’re not a fan of the likes of Marvel , Pixar and star Wars.

Where can I watch? Buffy the Vampire Slayer And angel Now?

While there is no date for the series’ release on the streaming service, the announcements were made as part of ITV’s general TV schedule, which runs from January to March next year. Unfortunately, there are no signs of the split angel will soon be included in the flagship series.
