Football Insider claims that both the Clarets and Coventry City rejected offers for Sun in the summer, but it is Burnley who have apparently returned with a vengeance to quickly complete a deal.

Although the formalities of the contract have not yet been finalized and he will of course not be able to sign until the transfer window opens in January, the report states that Burnley are close to agreeing a deal in the region of £2.5 million for the Peruvian right-back to be agreed.

Sonne has shown his versatility for his club Silkeborg, playing on both sides of the defense and also breaking into midfield. That ability to play in a variety of positions could prove invaluable up front.

Silkeborg’s loss is Burnley’s gain, and the Danish club’s sporting director recently stated that Sonne “has probably played his last game”, although he also admitted that “there are still some formalities and things to say (about the sale). ).”

Burnley fans will feel refreshed to see the club proactively addressing the issue and signing a full-back of international standard to either oust him from the team now or replace him in the summer will fill them with confidence.

There’s also the question of whether they’ll try to do something similar with soon-to-be-expiring stars Josh Brownhill and Jay Rodriguez, but for now a replacement for Roberts should he decide not to sign a new contract is a great one Beginning.
