Cambridge United to continue without Dan Nlundulu and Sullay Kaikai for League 1 against Wrexham

Neither Dan Nlundulu nor Sullay Kaikai will return to the Cambridge United squad to home to WREXHAM.

After the 1-1 draw on Saturday with Northampton Town, US head coach Neil Harris did not develop the absence of the duo attack too much and only decided to ensure that both players had moved away from training from training at the beginning of the week.

Before visiting Wrexham from Promotion hunt, however, Harris confirmed that the couple is currently looking for fitness.

For Nlundulu, the striker of Bolton Wanderers came across the full speed after the thigh injury, which he suffered around the years.

Harris said: “The players concern the players in different ways. Dan is a loan player, I worked with him on the training field and I had some really good conversations with him.

“He is a player who is clearly looking for a home in football to really arrest a place and to be a regular starter and to have a longevity somewhere. He came with the thinking process to play this games, but maybe also find a home.

“I had a few good conversations with him, it is simply not that he can get extended minutes on the field.

“I was very careful (with him) came back from an injury.

“Ultimately, we have to be fair for the players. He is loaned to help us and help ourselves. If we had thrown him on the occasion too early to collapse for three to six months and possibly collapse.

“He has a bit of a niggle at the moment and he is not confident in his body. Obviously, I will not push a player who is not our player to get to the field until he feels comfortable.

“Dan has great characteristics, really good characteristics. I used to see him playing in the season and he played very well. But then with his size and shape and way of playing the game, he has to build up his minutes. He is a kind of player.

“I was really patient with him, but unfortunately he had a step back. We hope that he will be fit again before the end of the season.”

Kaikai was supposed to start in Barnsley at the beginning of this month before he had an unstructured week.

Harris added: “I am really disappointed that SK is missing. He had an unstructured week in the run -up to Barnsley and it is fair to say that he was considered in my thoughts to start this game, but I couldn’t start because he had an unstructured week.

“He has a little problem with a groin area and I am really disappointed that it is not available to me.”

Harris revealed in lighter news that left -back Scott Malone had participated in today’s training session.

The 34-year-old, who came to Cambridge on March 4 on March 4, came off with a back problem at the weekend, but he was supposed to be directed against Wrexham.

Long -term absence Danny Andrew was also seen at the meeting, but it is not expected that he will return to the plot until Easter.
