Car lands on roof of house after accident

NAMPA, Idaho (KIVI) – A car ended up on the roof of a home after a crash in Idaho.

“I was on my way to church when I got this call from my wife. She said, “You have to go home.” “There’s a car on our roof,” Biff Eshelman said.

He and his wife Sylvia are safe and sound after an accident Sunday morning left a car on the roof of their home.

Sylvia Eshelman said she heard a “loud bang and the power went out.”

“She said it was the loudest noise she had ever heard,” Biff Eshelman said.

Sylvia Eshelman said she initially had no idea what happened, but quickly realized there had been an accident and a car had ended up on its roof.

The Eshelmans say this isn’t the first time they’ve seen accidents near their home.

“Our neighbor had five cars in his yard last year and before that we had another car a few years ago that hit the pole down here and rolled into his house. So it’s a dangerous place,” said Biff Eshelman.

The neighbor is hoping for changes on the corner where he lives so that accidents like this don’t happen again.

“It should be 20 miles per hour on this little section, but it really starts when they come around the corner. They’re gassing all the way here. “I know our neighbor wants him to close the street so you can’t come through that way,” Biff Eshelman said.

Until repairs are made, the Eshelmans are without power and they say rebuilding will be a long road.

“At some point it’s going to require some major remodeling, but right now it’s unclear what we’re going to do,” Biff Eshelman said.
