Car lands on roof of house in Nampa – LocalNews8.com

NAMPA, Idaho (KIVI) – “I was on my way to church when I got this call from my wife. She said you had to go home. There’s a car on our roof,” Biff Eshelman said after a car landed on his house Sunday morning.

Biff said it was the loudest noise his wife, Sylvia Eshelman, had ever heard.

“Suddenly there was a loud bang and the power went out.” Sylvia said: “I did, I had no idea.”

“The car came down Amity Street, missed the corner, went over his embankment, came over the roof of his house, ripped off the chimney and its electrical ground and flew onto the roof of our house. We were very.” “Luckily the Lord took care of us. Of course I was gone,” Biff said.

They said this isn’t the first time they’ve seen accidents so close to home.

“As we say, our neighbor had five cars in his yard last year and before that we had another car a few years ago that hit the pole down here and rolled into his house and so it’s a dangerous place to be.” Biff said.

The neighbor, whose home was also damaged, said he would like to see changes made to that corner to prevent such accidents from happening again.

“It’s supposed to be 20 miles an hour on this little section, but when they come around the corner, that’s when they really start to go. “I can’t get through that way,” Biff said.

Both houses are without power until repairs are made.

But the Eshelmans said rebuilding will be a long road.

“At some point it’s going to require some major remodeling, but right now it’s unclear what we’re going to do,” Biff said.
