Cases of whooping cough in Idaho are skyrocketing

Well, that’s probably not the way you wanted to start the holiday season, is it?

Knowing that whooping cough is spreading throughout Idaho, including in schools here in Boise, is probably not what you wanted to find under the tree this year.

Well, it’s a shame. It’s here. How can you protect yourself?

Can wearing a mask protect against whooping cough?

First of all, yes, Whooping Cough is back in Idaho. More details here.

Second, how can you prevent yourself from getting sick? According to thousands of health experts, pertussis (better known as whooping cough) can be kept at bay with a KN95 or KN94 mask:

…can also stop the spread of whooping cough and other respiratory infections by washing your hands frequently, covering your mouth when coughing or wearing a mask, and avoiding close proximity to infants and young children when you are sick.

If you plan on going out here in Idaho in the next few days, it may be in your best interest to wear a mask. Or at least make sure you’re healthy and washing your hands much.

Well, will it be us? prescribed to wear masks in public in Idaho during the current whooping cough outbreak? We doubt it.

However, nothing is ruled out. Just last year, New York State issued mask requirements for numerous counties.
