CBS Releases First Look for New Daytime Soap Opera ‘Beyond the Gates’

CBS has released a first teaser for “Beyond the Gates,” the first new daytime soap opera in years, launching in the new year in place of “The Talk.” The project is the first to result from a joint venture between CBS Studios and NAACP.

The series logline states: “’Beyond the Gates’ is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, DC and in one of the wealthiest African-American counties in the United States. Here you’ll find an upscale gated community with winding, tree-lined streets and luxurious villas to call home. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and respected multigenerational family that represents the epitome of black royalty. But behind these immaculate walls and lush, manicured gardens, juicy secrets and scandals wait to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who made it and those who didn’t are all trying to find their way through life…and some with more grace than others.”

The series, created in collaboration with P&G Studios, premieres on February 24th. It airs weekdays at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS and also streams on Paramount+.

Following the livestream of Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, the world’s most-streamed sporting event of all time, Netflix has announced a sports series focusing on the life of boxer Mike Tyson.

The show’s official description reads: “Tyson’s legacy extends far beyond the confines of the boxing ring, making him one of the most compelling and polarizing figures of our time.” From his meteoric rise to becoming the “baddest man on the planet” to his personal struggles – including a period of imprisonment and widely publicized struggles – to eventual redemption, this series will explore the man behind the gloves.”

Speaking about the show, Mike Tyson said: “Having the opportunity to share my story through the reflective lens of my growth and maturity in a multi-part documentary on Netflix will be a challenging, yet very welcoming journey.” Most people have too a lot of fear to look at their lives objectively and want to portray themselves as the hero of their own story. But if we are truly objective, we know that we can never be the hero of our own story.”

The show is executive produced by Ian Orefice of EverWonder Studio, Jim Gray of Scratchy Productions, Michael Hughes and Greg C. Lake of DLP Media Group, Douglas Banker of Five All in the Fifth Entertainment and Floyd Russ, who also directs .

“Clean Slate,” starring Laverne Cox and Geroge Wallace, premieres February 6 on Prime Video.

The official logline reads: “This heartfelt comedy follows Harry (Wallace), an old-school Alabama car wash owner who faces a lot when the child he once called “son” returns after 17 years as a proud transgender Woman named Desiree (Cox). Their homecoming brings together a hilarious group of friends, colleagues and love interests as Desiree and Harry try to make things right the second time around. The series explores universal themes of unconditional love, all through Norman Lear’s signature boundary-pushing brand of comedy.”

Cox will serve as co-creator and executive producer for Laverne Cox Productions, with Wallace and Dan Ewen also serving as co-creators and executive producers of the series. Norman Lears Act III Productions, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios will produce.

“Clean Slate” was originally ordered as a series on Amazon Freevee, but found a new home after Freevee closed. Telma Hopkins, DK Uzoukwu, Jay Wilkison and Norah Murphy also star.

“Deal or No Deal Island Aftershow With Boston Rob” premieres Wednesday, January 8th.

Season 1 Islander and “Survivor” winner Boston Rob will sit down with eliminated players each week to explain gameplay, talk about the island drama and share never-before-seen footage from the show.

Episodes of the Aftershow will be available to stream every Wednesday on Peacock, NBC’s YouTube channel and NBC.com, after new episodes of “Deal or No Deal Island” air Tuesdays at 9pm ET/PT on NBC beginning January 14th.

In “Deal or No Deal Island,” briefcases are hidden throughout the island, with over $200 million in prize money to be shared between them. Players take part in challenges to secure the briefcases that will be used in that evening’s Deal or No Deal game. The player who grabs the suitcase with the highest value receives immunity and can choose a teammate to enter “the temple”.

Dropout releases trailer for season 2 of Dimension 20: Dungeons and Drag Queens.

The comedy streaming service announced that Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan will return to lead returning players Bob the Drag Queen, Jujubee, Alaska Thunderfuck and Monét X Change on a new adventure.

This new season of “Dimension 20” begins airing two weeks before the sold-out live show led by Mulligan at Madison Square Garden, where the core cast of “Dimension 20” performs “Gauntlet at the Garden,” a spinoff of ” Dimension”, will present 20” season “The Unsleeping City”.

The Women’s Sports Network has launched its own channel on Samsung TV Plus, expanding the distribution profile of the free streaming program.

Since its founding in 2023, the Women’s Sports Network has been committed to breaking barriers to women’s sports with over a thousand hours of programming in 30 territories. Productions range from exclusive live games to regular and postseason coverage featuring female athletes.

“At Samsung TV Plus, we believe in the power of women’s sports to inspire, unite and break barriers,” said Sarah Nelson, head of business development and strategic partnerships at Samsung TV Plus. “We are proud to partner with the Women’s Sports Network to showcase League One Volleyball and bring the action, passion and energy to fans.”

The network has more than 10 league partnerships, most recently one with the official fast-track partner of League One Volleyball.

MANAGEMENT

EW Scripps Company has hired Adam Harman as senior vice president of programming.

Harman has more than 20 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, including 11 years at A+E Networks, most recently in the role of vice president of strategy and acquisitions. Prior to A+E, Harman worked at NBCU’s Style Network and the Hallmark Channel.

He will oversee programming and content acquisition strategy for Scripps’ network portfolio, including broadcast network Ion.

“As Scripps continues to evolve its content strategy to engage audiences and advertisers across all platforms, Adam is the ideal leader to lead our programming team,” said Keisha Taylor Starr, chief marketing officer and general manager of Scripps Networks. “Adam has the ability to find the bold and impactful content consumers crave, and his industry relationships will help Scripps continue to deliver it to our audiences wherever they tune in.”

The network has hired producer Hilary Shor as production manager.

Shor has been in the industry for over 25 years and has produced films such as Children of Men and The Paperboy. She worked with Lee Daniels on The Deliverance, The United States vs. Billie Holiday and The Butler and is a longtime collaborator of Aram Rappaport, founder of The Network.

“I’m thrilled to officially join the team at The Network,” said Shor. “Aram and I have now worked together on a number of projects and I fully believe in the approach he takes to create premium content that not only appeals to consumers, but also allows artists to explore new territory and a to take a more active role in the creative field.” Procedure.”

EVENTS

The second season of Apple TV+’s “Severance” will air as the opening night program for PaleyFest LA 2025.

Following the screening, there will be a preview of the finale and a conversation with the cast and creative team at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

“Severance” follows labor manager Mark (Adam Scott) at Lumon Industries, where the employees’ memories are disconnected from their work and everyday lives. In the second season, Mark and his friends learn the consequences of messing around with the severance pay barrier.

“We are excited to announce the return of PaleyFest LA and our inaugural show Severance on Apple TV+,” said Maureen J.
