CDPR reiterates that The Witcher 4 will be revealed much closer to release

The Witcher a new saga

CD Projekt wants to be unusually transparent when it comes to every single project that is in various stages of production and how far along they are in the process. However, as far as a formal announcement and proper marketing cycle go, you can expect the studio to be getting closer to the upcoming one The Witcher 4 different than how it was handled Cyberpunk 2077.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Michał Nowakowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt, spoke about this Cyberpunk 2077 Marketing cycle in which CD Projekt RED entered a lengthy final phase of marketing with a bang at E3 2019 with Keanu Reeves on stage and the game’s release didn’t come until a year and a half later. By the way, this was followed by a trailer at E3 2018, not to mention a CGI announcement teaser back in January 2013.

However, the company is aiming for shorter marketing cycles of around one year for future projects, which it has already expressed in the past.

“To be honest, when we officially launched the campaign with pre-orders when Keanu was on stage (currently at E3 in June 2019), the original plan was to release it about a year later. It just didn’t really work. So we didn’t really plan a two-year campaign, and I still think one year would really be fine (in terms of time) for an advertising campaign for this game.”

“(We) learned a lot of good practices from this experience: So announce the date when you are really, really sure,” he continued. “And I think we now have much better tools to safely meet that date, which we have proven – on a smaller scale – ourselves Phantom freedom.”

He added: “For a new game, we would still expect a slightly longer – but not two-year – campaign.”

Although full announcements will be made closer to launch, Nowakowski says fans can still expect less formal info drops here and there, such as concept art or even “some video assets or something to whet the appetite.” the fans.”

“However, I want to emphasize: That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t tease or release some cool assets before (a full reveal),” he explained. “Because the marketing campaign, a little earlier before the game’s release, is something different than the actual, let’s say, ‘mass attack.’ Mass Attack is about announcing the date, starting collecting pre-orders and from that point, from that moment to the moment you launch the game, it’s really a race.”

“If I ask you, what do you know? The Witcher 4? The answer is probably not much – yes, there are theories and so on. But there’s nothing really concrete,” he continued. That’s why we want to drop the crumbs here and there so that people – and the media too – can pick it up and try to figure out what we want to say this time. We can start this a little earlier.”

CD Projekt recently announced this The Witcher 4 has entered full production, but it remains to be seen how long it will take before the game is ready for demonstration. According to the studio, the fantasy role-playing game will be larger than The Witcher 3 And Cyberpunk 2077. Read more about it here.
