Bradley Cooper can add restaurateur to his already extensive resume!

The maestro The actor has teamed up with Danny DiGiampietro, owner of the popular Angelo’s Pizzeria in Philadelphia, to open the first-ever brick-and-mortar location of their new food company Danny & Coop’s in New York City’s Alphabet City neighborhood in January 2025.

But people can try the restaurant during its soft open on December 20th, 21st and 22nd – at 151 Ave. A in a busy location overlooking Tompkins Square Park. On these dates, the store only serves one meal: its Philly cheesesteak.

Danny & Coop’s made its first post to its Instagram page on December 20th, announcing the soft open and informing hungry cheesesteak fans that they will be open on Friday, 3pm on Saturday and again on Sunday Will be open 5 p.m. – until they are open from Cheesesteaks.

So of course me too, as a local cheesesteak And Cooper fan, made my way to the new location on Friday evening to experience Danny & Coop’s in person.

During the soft launch, the restaurant was family-run, with DiGiampietro’s daughter and niece taking orders at the register. They let me know that there was a line waiting for an hour before they opened at 6:00 p.m., but by 6:45 p.m. the line was mostly empty.

Online content creators documented Cooper’s hard work in the kitchen, with Mike Chau writing, “Coop took his turn, out of sight of the dining area, preparing these top-notch cheesesteaks.”

Knowing there would be a queue at reception, I tried to avoid the wait by arriving at 7pm and to my surprise the room was empty. I was greeted by Cooper before he hopped straight back into the kitchen. There was only one menu option – a hearty, classic Philly cheesesteak – and within minutes I received my order in a beautiful to-go box emblazoned with the company’s logo.

Desperate to eat, I rushed home and pulled out what looked like a foot-long sandwich. The still warm bread was filled to the brim with “Cooper Sharp and Onions” or a cheese and onion mixture. At the first bite, I was obsessed: the gooey texture melted perfectly and the steak was cooked to perfection. What more could a girl ask for on a rainy Friday night?

Cooper’s girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid, also promoted the soft open on her Instagram Stories the same day.

This isn’t the first time Cooper has brought the popular Philadelphia treat to the city. A year ago, in December 2023, Cooper joined DiGiampietro at a pop-up food truck in the West Village neighborhood and handed out the $18 cheesesteaks.

DiGiampietro recounted The Philadelphia Inquirer At the time, the two had been looking for a permanent home for their cheesesteak project for two years, but rent proved to be an obstacle. “Do you know what they want for 700 square feet in this neighborhood?” DiGiampietro said. “Eighteen thousand a month!”

A year later, the duo found a home at Danny & Coop’s.
