Chris Weidman announces his retirement from the UFC

Chris Weidman calls it a career.

Chris Weidman hasn’t had a fight since his loss to Eryk Anders at UFC 310 on December 7th. This was his second fight of 2024 as he defeated Bruno Silva via decision at UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield vs. Fiorot on March 30.

During the UFC 311 weigh-in show, Chris Weidman announced his retirement from the UFC.

“Since I chose this sport in 2009, my goal has been to become a UFC fighter. Then the goal immediately was to become UFC world champion. 14 years later, I’m here to tell you that I’m persevering.” I will no longer fight for the organization that changed my life in so many ways. I’m just grateful to everyone who got me here. Weidman said.

Weidman retires with a record of 16-8-0. He is a former UFC middleweight champion and successfully defended the title three times. He won the Fight of the Night Award three times. Weidman was sidelined for two years after suffering a compound fracture of his right tibia and fibula at UFC 261. He returned and lost via unanimous decision to Brad Tavares at UFC 292.
