City of Baltimore vehicle found in flames, now under investigation for arson

WBFF (Baltimore, MD) – Police say a fire that destroyed a city-owned vehicle parked across from Baltimore City Hall on Thanksgiving Day was arson.

This city vehicle, a Tesla, was parked next to the Councilman Harry S. Cummings Building in the 400 block of East Fayette Street. According to authorities, officers were alerted to the fire around 9:40 p.m.

Firefighters were dispatched to put out the flames, police said. Fox45 was at the scene of the fire as a crime lab technician collected evidence from the charred vehicle and a concrete planter.

This is the second fire investigation launched this week within two blocks of downtown Baltimore.

Police are investigating a fire that also damaged a patrol car. This vehicle was parked next to the Baltimore Police Department headquarters when it burst into flames.

According to authorities, the arson attack occurred on Monday around 12:15 p.m.

Baltimore Police Department spokesman Det. Niki Fennoy told Fox45 that investigators have been examining the two arson attacks for any similarities, but at this time they cannot be sure whether the two incidents are related.
