Extra provided some biographical details about Ellis, saying he was 30, a “boy from New Jersey,” a day trader and a “mama’s boy” living in Houston, Texas.

He’s a former professional basketball player who was playing overseas until his injury, and according to Extra, he’s the second black “Bachelor” in the franchise’s history.

“It’s hard to find someone, you know. There are so many options and dating apps here and there,” he told Extra. “I want to show people that if you do your best, you can build a lasting relationship. This is significant because I saw it with my grandparents.”

Ellis also explained to Extra what type of woman he is looking for as a partner. “Someone who is compassionate and someone with good judgment and good character,” he said.

He also outlined some of the “red flags” he will be looking for during the show.

“You have to smell good. You can’t smell like ‘Beetlejuice,'” he said, mentioning the Hollywood film. “You can’t be too preoccupied with yourself.”

He added: “You have to be considerate of other people; That’s something big for me too.”

The show then cut to a clip of a contestant from Ellis’ season calling another contestant a “backstabber.”

“The goal is to fall in love, and that’s something I’m trying to do,” Elllis reiterated.
