Closed streets in Virginia Beach for Shamrock Marathon

The 53rd Yuengling Shamrock Marathon is back in Virginia Beach and arranges the road closures in the area by the sea at the weekend.

The 8 -km racing and operating smile final Mile takes place on Saturday, and half and full marathons are Sunday. The closures and reopens are as follows:

Saturday, 5 a.m.

The closures begin in the Pacific Avenue and the Atlantic Avenue from the 25th to 35th street to absorb for the Town Shamrock 8k race or about 5 miles and the Operation Smile Final Mile.

Saturday, 7 a.m.

Traffic is restricted in the Rudee Loop to 25th Street and in the Atlantic Avenue from 35 to 38th street.

Saturday, 1 p.m.

The city estimates that all roads will be open again.

Sunday, 5 a.m.

Sunday will have extensive closures for the half marathon and the full marathon. The city will access the Kavalier to the 47th Street. The lanes to the north have “limited access”. The Atlantic Avenue is also closed by the 35th to 40th streets.

The Pacific Avenue is closed at 5 a.m. from the cavalier to 35th Street.

Sunday, 6:30 a.m.

The city will close the Atlantic Avenue from 22nd to 35th streets.

Sunday, 7 a.m.

The Atlantic Avenue from Cavalier to 89th Street has no access. Shore Drive is closed by Fort Story West Gate to the Atlantic Avenue and the 83rd Street. The Feeder Road on the west side of the Atlantic Avenue from 50th Street is open for traffic in the neighborhood.

Sunday, 8 a.m.

Access is closed in the Atlantic Avenue from the Rudee Loop to 9th Street. The city will also close General Booth Boulevards Nordspur from Prosperity Road to the 5th Street and the Rudee Bridge. The road is also closed on Birdneck Road from General Booth Boulevard for the entrance to the state military reserve in the Jefferson Avenue.

General Booth Boulevard will give “limited access” on the Pacific Avenue and the General Booth Boulevard. The lane in the south will be open from 9th Street to Oceana Boulevard. The Birdneck Road’s eastern traces are open for traffic in the neighborhood to Prosperity Road.

The city encourages the drivers to use the Waze Navigation app, which is updated with closures.

Sunday, 3:30 p.m.

According to the city, roads are opened again for traffic.
