College Football News: The former coach of the state of Kent picked up massive loans from Booster

The former coach of Kent State, Kenni Burns, has given loans of over 100,000 US dollars from a booster, according to an investigation.

This booster was also a school seller. Burns was put on administrative leave in March and released on April 11th.

Kent State never publicly stated why Burns was put or released on administrative leave.

An independent examination of an external law firm showed that Burns had received six figures in Michael Awad loans, according to Akron Beacon Journal.

The loans began in 2023 after Burns said that his house was flooded and fought financially because he had not sold his house in Minnesota. Burns began paying the loans of 109,000 US dollars that he had borrowed from Halloween in 2023 and, according to the examination, with nine checks for over 14 months.

There was no evidence that burns paid interest for the loans.

While Burns received Awad’s loans, Awad helped him open a credit card at the hometown of Bank. In 2024, burns missed the minimum payments and exceeded the limit of the credit card and, according to the Akron Beacon Journal, was sued by the bank.

The bank’s lawsuit against Burns was settled when the former coach of the state Kent had paid what he owed.

The loans that have received burns may have violated the state’s ethics laws that prevent Booster from benefiting from booster.
