Colorado police officer uses child’s bike in pursuit of theft suspect

DENVER (KDVR) — A police officer in Lone Tree, Colorado did his best to catch a suspect who drove away on a scooter.

The city of Lone Tree posted body camera video on its social media of the two-wheeled police chase in which Officer Jacob Tarr decided to confiscate a child’s bicycle to arrest someone suspected of theft.

The suspect was initially confronted, but then jumped some fences and used a scooter as a getaway vehicle. Fortunately, Tarr had another means of transportation.

The video in the player above shows body camera footage of the officer jumping over two fences and then grabbing a green children’s bike to chase a suspect.

The suspect can also be seen on camera footage from a nearby home. The video shows the suspect trying to escape on a scooter. Shortly afterwards, footage shows Tarr chasing the suspect on a child’s bicycle.

The video ends with another officer, this time in a patrol car, arresting the suspect shortly afterwards. The city of Lone Tree said the suspect was charged with theft. The suspect also had three outstanding warrants, one of which was for armed robbery from another county.
